Sundried jewellery began trading in the summer of 2002, the product of designer maker Lawrence Gibson. His objective was to create a range of pewter jewellery, individual in style, affordable, that could be appreciated by men and women of all ages, and was of a high standard so that it would be accepted into some of the many galleries to whom quality from it’s artists is key to their reputation and success.
Each and every piece on this website has been designed and made in Cornwall by Lawrence, who’s work is constantly evolving, and although now available through this site, is otherwise only sold through galleries in the UK, most of which are in the southwest corner of England, the place that has inspired it’s creation.
Sundried Jewellery are specialists in jewellery made in pewter. Pewter is an alloy consisting mainly of tin, with a small amount of antimony and copper. It is lead and nickel free and is therefore non allergenic.
To retain it’s luster it is best to keep pewter away from moisture as over time, too much moisture will cause a patina to develop. As an individual it is your decision whether to remove this or not. If you choose to, it is best to use an all purpose metal cleaner with a soft cloth when the surface has become dull, before the patina has built up too much.
The name Sundried Jewellery came to Lawrence when sitting in a bistro in St. Ives. Sundried seemed to fit in with the whole concept of jewellery which looked as though it had been washed up on the beach, or spent time rolling around in between the pebbles of the shoreline.
